Ocala Community Center
at Reed Place
The City of Ocala will construct a multi-purpose community center to serve the recreation, health/fitness, indoor and outdoor banquet/events, education/library, civic and informational needs of the Ocala community. Previous plans and studies have identified the need for these services to be located in West Ocala. The community center will be constructed on City-owned property in close proximity to Lillian Bryant Park. The facility will be a two-story masonry building of approximately 42,300-square feet. The City will potentially construct the facility in two phases, depending on availability of funding. If phased, the City would expect to construct approximately 25,000-square feet for phase 1 and 17,300-square feet for phase 2. Phase 1 would include everything shown on the conceptual plans except for the gymnasium and indoor walking track.
Indoor Project Components:
Senior, youth and family programs
Small and large banquet/event facilities
Library and media center
Health and wellness facilities to include
fitness room, gymnasium and indoor walking
Outdoor Project Components:
First Tee youth golf facility
The City expects to have the project in design
by summer 2019 and be in construction by
summer 2020. It is anticipated the project
will be complete the first half of 2021.
The City anticipates the total project budget
will be $12.5 million. This includes $8 million
for phase 1 and $4.5 million for phase 2.
