Ocala Summer Camps

COVID-19 Response Changes for 2020 Summer Camps

  • All staff will attend a mandatory training on CDC recommended protocols for day camp operations.
  • Registration will be on-line or by phone only.
  • Registration will be open two weeks in advance and will close at noon on the Friday before the camp week. No additional registrations will be accepted after Friday noon for the week following.
  • No one-time registration fee required for current year.
  • All camps will be full-day camps.
  • Drop off is between 7:30 a.m and 8 a.m. Pickup is between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Late drop-offs and early pickups will not be permitted without advance notice from the parent. o Parents drop-off and pick up children (to/from staff’s custody) in a drive through/parking lot.
    • Parents/guardians not permitted to enter the buildings.
    • Temperature and health screenings at drop off. This staff needs to be trained on CDC guidelines for screenings; must wear gloves and masks.
  • Each staff person will be assigned the same children/group all week.
  • No mixing/mingling between groups.
  • Plexiglass shields at customer service counters.
  • No off-site field trips (except outdoor camp).
  • Seat children 6 feet apart and limit all groups to 10 or less.
  • Ensure adequate supplies to reduce sharing of supplies or equipment. If supplies/equipment must be shared, sanitize between uses.
  • Require all children and staff to wear masks.
  • Incorporate DAILY lessons related to good hygiene and minimal contact. Require campers to wash their hands throughout the day and before eating lunch.
  • Ensure facilities are cleaned/sanitized throughout the day and that staff with custodial/sanitizing responsibilities are properly trained per the CDC guidelines/recommendations for child care facilities.

Registration

  • Parents and guardians will need to  register weekly for camps
  • Registration will be on a first come, first served basis.  
  • Previous enrollment allowed for parents to register campers for all eight weeks.  This year requires a separate enrollment each week to allow more families an opportunity to participate.
  • Camp registration opens each Tuesday, two weeks in advance of the camp start date and will close at noon the Friday before camp week.
  • Registration will not be accepted after the Friday noon deadline.
