Post Date:10/03/2018 12:57 PM

OCALA, Fla. (Oct. 3, 2018) – The Discovery Center’s newest exhibit, Mad Lab, will open to the public Saturday, Oct. 13 and will be on display through Saturday, Dec. 29 at the Discovery Center, 701 NE Sanchez Ave.

Mad Lab is a family-friendly, interactive exhibit, educating guests on the science that inspired Mary Shelley to write her classic monster story, “Frankenstein.” This year marks the 200th anniversary of the publication of “Frankenstein” and what better way to celebrate than with a spooky science themed exhibit. Guests will get to experiment with electricity, build and take apart model internal organs, and there’s even a miniature graveyard where guests can dig up stuffed animal parts and assemble them into a new, crazy monster.

A special grand opening event will be held Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature face painting, slime making, refreshments and more. General admission to this event is $6 per person or $20 for a family of four. StarLab Planetarium tickets can be purchased on Saturdays for an additional $3. A special opening day ticket is available for $10 per person, which includes general admission to the exhibit, StarLab tickets and access to a hands-on Slime Lab.

Adults looking for a fun night at the museum can attend the Discovery Date Night Saturday, Oct. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person and include food, adult beverages and fun science experiments. Monster attire or costumes are encouraged, but not required. To purchase tickets, please visit
