Update - Legacy Park Recognition Ceremony Honors Community Leaders in Ocala

OCALA, Fla. (June 25, 2020) - The Governor’s West Ocala Neighborhood Revitalization Council gathered Thursday at Legacy Park to honor individuals who have made significant or unique contributions to the community. Legacy Park is located on the southwest side of the city and provides walking trails and greenspace within the city, while reminding residents about leaders who have shaped the community. The appointed Governor’s West Ocala Neighborhood Revitalization Council subcommittee is responsible for submission and selection of nominees.

The honorees for this year included Mary Sue Rich, Carolyn Adams, Wendell Dailey, June Dailey, George Giles, Sheriff M.A. Clouts, Marshall Burrell E. Dawkins, Dr. Pamela Lewin. 

The Legacy Walk provides commemorative stones for each nominee, so their contributions can be memorialized for generations to come. Visitors to the park can view the tiles along the pathways.

OCALA, Fla. (June 23, 2020) – A recognition ceremony will be held 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 25 for the Legacy Park Community Service Recognition Program inductees. The ceremony will take place at Legacy Park, formerly the Thompson Bowl Start! Walking Trail, located near the 900 block of SW Ninth Avenue.

The Legacy Park Community Service Recognition program was initiated by the Governor’s West Ocala Neighborhood Revitalization Council to honor and recognize community leaders or individuals who have made outstanding, unique, lasting and extraordinary contributions to the community. The appointed

Governor’s West Ocala Neighborhood Revitalization Council subcommittee is responsible for submission and selection of nominees.

Inductees are Mary Sue Rich, Carolyn Adams, Wendell Dailey, June Dailey, George Giles, Sheriff M.A. Clouts, Marshall Burrell E. Dawkins, Dr. Pamela Lewin.

This event is free and open to the public. Members of the media are encouraged to attend.
