Ocala Recreation and Parks Department: Closure of Public Park Amenities

OCALA, Fla. (March 20, 2020) – The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department will close public park amenities in the interest of public health and safety caused by health conditions associated with COVID-19.

As of today, Friday, March 20, the following recreation facilities, within public parks, will close until further notice.

• Basketball courts
• Tennis courts
• All athletic fields, including volleyball courts
• Pavilions
• Playgrounds
• Public restrooms in public parks

In addition, the Ocala Golf Club, 3130 E Silver Springs Blvd., will be closed effective immediately.

City of Ocala walking trails and green spaces will remain open during this time. Citizens are encouraged to practice social distancing and implement “Best Practices for Play” when bringing families to public parks. If you must go to the park, avoid high traffic areas that may heighten your risk for exposure when interacting with others.
