The IT Department is funded through the Intergovernmental Services Fund. City departments are charged for IT Services through cost allocations as part of the budget process. The Services provided by the IT Department include:
Central Computer Processing
Ongoing operation of the City's central computer system that houses the City's core business applications and includes Application Batch Processing, Data Backup and Recovery, System Maintenance and Upgrades, End-user Connectivity, System Security Management
Applications Development and Support
- Assist departments in developing solutions to enhance business processes through Systems Analysis, Database and Application Design, Programming, Documentation, Training, and Support
System Evaluation and Implementation
- Assist departments in conducting Business Process Analysis, Needs Assessments, and Evaluation of Technology Alternatives, System Feasibility, and Software Solutions. Includes preparing Functional and System Specifications and Implementation Plans as well as providing Project Management for new system implementations
Network Infrastructure and Services
- Provide departments with secured resources for File and Print Sharing, Internet Access, Internal and Internet E-mail, Document Imaging. Includes Infrastructure Design and Implementation, Server Administration, and Network Security
Personal Computer Support
- Provide PC Technical Support to departments including Hardware/Software Installation, Troubleshooting, Repair, Equipment Upgrades, Help Desk Support, Purchasing Specifications, Software Licensing and Upgrades
Web Development
- Provide support and maintenance of the City Internet Web Site working with departments to keep content current and accurate. Maintain and expand the City's Intranet Capabilities to facilitate on-line communication and information sharing between departments
Geographic Information System (GIS) Development
- Facilitate consistent spatial data analysis by all City departments through the implementation of a citywide GIS and provide support and coordination of GIS efforts and investment by other departments
IT Services outside the scope of the IT Department include:
