The City of Ocala is working in partnership with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and St. John’s Water Management District (SJWMD) to improve the health of Silver Springs and its tributaries through a new program that will eliminate a limited number of septic tanks throughout Marion County.

The Septic Tank & Well Elimination Program is looking at properties with septic tanks where existing sanitary sewer collection systems are available for connection. We are referring to these specific properties as Lateral Only Connections (LOCS).

The City of Ocala Water Resources Department will be able to make immediate, cost-effective progress to its required goals because reductions may be achieved without the installation of new infrastructure.
