REGISTRATION IS CLOSED FOR THE 2017 CITIZENS ACADEMY PROGRAM.
Citizens Academy is a free, exciting, eight-week program that touches upon virtually every facet of city government. Sessions will be held Thursdays, April 6 through May 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at various city locations. Food and other refreshments will be provided at each session.
Participants will have the chance to visit and speak with nearly every city department including the Ocala International Airport, Ocala Fire Rescue, Ocala Police Department, Public Works Department, Ocala Electric Utility and more! Participants will also have the opportunity to hear from elected officials and top city administrators, including City Manager, John Zobler. Each session will include live demonstrations, a question and answer portion, and educational discussions to give participants a better understanding of current City projects and economic development opportunities.

Thursday, April 13 – Ocala International Airport, Office of Budget and Management

Thursday, May 4 – Ocala Electric Utility, Telecommunications, Fleet, Facilities
Thursday, May 11 – Ocala Police Department
Thursday, May 18 – Growth Management, Revitalization Strategies
Thursday, May 25 –Public Works, Engineering, Water Resources
All participants must be at least 18 years of age and currently be a resident or business owner in Ocala/Marion County. The deadline to register is Friday, March 24. Space is limited to 30 participants on a first come, first served basis.
