Brent Malever joined the City Council in December 2013 representing District 1 (At-large), which encompasses the entire city of Ocala.
Brent was born and raised in Ocala. He is very proud of our City and has served our Community, our State and our Nation in varied positions. After attending Trinity Catholic School and graduating from Ocala High School, he attended Loyola University and graduated from Florida Southern College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics He then served in the Florida National Guard as a First Lieutenant and has owned and operated successful businesses in Ocala for over 40 years. He and his brother owned Malever’s Clothing Store in Downtown Ocala and S&B Malever Investments. As a local businessman he also served on the Board of Directors for the First Marion Bank.
He recently served on the CFCC Foundation Board, serving as Chairman for two years. During his tenure he was able to recruit and achieve substantial financial growth in the Foundation and its assets. Brent has previously served as President of the Downtown Development Commission for the city of Ocala. He has been a member of the Ocala-Silver Springs Rotary club where he has served as a Board Member and Past President. Brent has served on two school advisory boards for Eighth Street Elemetary and Forest High School. He has been a past president of the Ocala Shrine Club, a member of the Ocala Elks, and served under four Marion County Sheriffs as a Special Deputy.
Brent has been an active member of the Fort King Heritage Association serving as a board member and trustee. He is also an active member of the Marion County Parks and Recreation Board.
