Ocala Recreation and Parks Volunteer Information

Our Volunteers are Valuable!

The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department operates with the assistance of over 200 registered volunteers. These volunteers assist with program implementation, coaching, teaching, grounds maintenance and more. They contribute valuable skills needed to provide Ocala's high quality leisure services programs.

Volunteers join our team for a multitude of reasons, including:

  • Community service hours needed for high school and college.
  • Projects needed to complete scouting badge requirements.
  • A desire to be involved in providing a high quality of life in the community.
  • Working with youth participating in arts and sciences activities.
  • A desire to make new friends.
  • A desire to coach youth in beginner sports programs.
  • A desire to keep active in the community.
  • A desire to help others (i.e. mentoring, tutoring).
  • A passion for the outdoors and preservation/conservation activities.
  • A desire to share a skill or specialized knowledge such as photography, astronomy, etc.
  • Many, many other reasons!

Who Can Volunteer?

If you have something to offer, we have a place for you to contribute and will gladly have you join our team! Youth under the age of 18 years must have a parent or guardian sign the volunteer application form. Youth must have physically begun their 9th grade school year.

What Do I Need to Do to Get Started?

To ensure the safety of both the volunteer and the recreation and parks patrons, all volunteers are required to register and submit to a background investigation. To get started, simply complete the appropriate volunteer application form and submit it as follows:

  1. To the center supervisor or program coordinator for the center/program of your choice.
