The 8th Avenue Senior Center is located in beautiful Tuscawilla Park. The center was home of the first radio station in Marion County.  WTMC started broadcasting in 1939 and after moving to larger quarters, the center became “home” to many of our senior citizens.  A wide variety of programs, activities and special events are offered to our senior citizens.  Arts & crafts, dance, exercise, bingo, cards, movies, big band music, special celebration meals, trips, health, environmental, and other education classes are available through out the year.  Home base of the Ocala Shuffleboard Club: weekly games, local and regional tournaments are hosted on our beautiful covered shuffleboard courts.

This center is located at 210 NW 12th Avenue and is housed in the former MADDADS building located on the West side of Ocala in the Martin Luther King Recreation Complex.  The park offers a walking/fitness trail, basketball courts, baseball, soccer & football fields, picnic pavilion, playground and more.  This center is the first center on the west side of Ocala designed exclusively for senior citizens. The center provides senior citizens in the area the opportunity to socialize, become physically active, participate in educational programs, and receive resources or referrals to various services provided for seniors by private or governmental agencies.

Programs offered include but are not limited to:  fitness class, walking club, bingo, cards/games, trips, movies, social services such as AARP Tax Aide or S.H.I.N.E (assistance with filing of Medicare claims & more), health screenings, public speakers who will speak on issues facing seniors today, and special events such as Health Fairs, holiday parties and games tournaments.
