City of Ocala Reports a Secondary Treated Water Spill

Post Date:09/13/2017 11:01 AM
OCALA, Fla. (Sept. 12, 2017) – The City of Ocala Water Resources Department experienced a secondary treated water spill Monday, Sept. 11, which has since been contained.

The spill occurred at the City’s Water Reclamation Facility #2 (WRF #2), 4200 SE 24th St., and involved approximately 2.67 million gallons of secondary treated water. The water involved in the spill was treated, but not according to advanced wastewater treatment standards.

“This spill was caused by a tertiary filter level indicator failure,” said Chris Wildner, WRF #2 Lead Treatment Plant Operator, City of Ocala. “Filters are back on line and have resumed normal treatment.”
