Stormwater is also responsible for the proper management of stormwater through design, construction, regulatory and information management functions.
Drainage Improvement projects: We design, oversee the construction of, and maintain new water retention areas and collections systems to alleviate historic drainage problems.
Water Quality Enhancement: We also design, oversee the construction of, and maintain systems, such as Lake Tuscawilla, that clean up stormwater before it discharges to underground water supplies.
Complaint Response: We evaluate and correct the drainage problems of city residents.
Development Regulations: Through the review of plans and calculations, we ensure that new development within the City properly manages the additional stormwater that it generates.
Information Management: We are helping to create a City-wide database of stormwater infrastructure to aide in construction, maintenance, and emergency response to floods, spills, etc
Stormwater Utility: We manage a revenue-generating utility that enables funding of the above services.
FEMA Floodplain Management: providing information to citizens on current F.E.M.A floodplain elevations, elevation certificates and remediation advice.
