The Public Works Department fills a vital role in the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan as established by the City of Ocala and Marion County.

It exists under the auspices of Ocala and Marion County Emergency Management operating from an Emergency Operations Center located inside the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
