Reuse Systems
Reuse is not only the way of the future in Ocala, it is a trend throughout the country. Ocala began utilizing reuse in 1986 and continues to seek out potential new customers as well as alternative reuse applications. The benefits of using reuse are many. Primarily, recycling of all our waste products is the right thing to do. By doing so, we are returning to the environment those basic elements and materials which we have taken. By irrigating with reuse we reduce the need of chemical fertilizers required to keep a site in top shape. This allows quantifiable savings to our customers. In addition, we are helping the environment by protecting and preserving the high quality ground water for use by future generations. At the present time, the city does not charge any of its customers for using reuse. As a result of our wastewater treatment practices we are able to separate and recover both the liquid and solid bi-products from wastes entering our sewer system and return them safely to the environment with measurable beneficial results as discussed above.
