Matthew Brower
Assistant City Manager
Matthew Brower assumed the position of Assistant City Manager in October 2008. He oversees Utility Services, which includes the Electric Utility and Water & Sewer departments.
Before coming to Ocala, Mr. Brower served as City Manager in Santa Clara City, Utah, for eight years. He had direct supervision over all departments, including Police, Fire, Public Works, Planning & Zoning, Finance and Budget, Power, Water, Sewer, Storm Water and Administrative Services. He also has served as an administrative assistant to the City Manager in Newnan, Georgia, and a management intern in Lynn Haven, Florida.
His key accomplishments included the construction of a 28,000 square-foot, $6 million city office building, a downtown streetscape reconstruction project, renovation of the city’s historic downtown, the development of an 8 megawatt power generation station and the development of a 1.5 million-gallon water storage tank.
He is a member in the International City Management Association as well as several other professional associations.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and a master’s degree from Florida State University.
