Traffic Engineering is responsible for monitoring, operating, and maintaining the City's traffic control devices and systems to ensure the safe, efficient, and environmentally sensitive movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the City of Ocala.

The Traffic Division also sets up, maintains, and collects data from the city's traffic count devices. This data is used for better coordination of the city's traffic control devices. It is also used by the Planning and Engineering Department for future roadway planning and design
