Bicycle Rodeo
In an effort to minimize the frequency and severity of bicycle accidents in Marion County, the Ocala Police Department and the Marion County Parks and Recreation Department have teamed up, through a grant-funded program, to teach Marion County children and their parents about bicycle safety through a Bicycle Rodeo program.
Bike Rodeos are held upon request during community events or at Marion County schools. During these events, officers from the Ocala Police Department work with each child to help them navigate through a series of bicycle control and safety related exercises. These exercises are designed to increase the child's ability to control a bicycle in a variety of different situations and to increase the child's overall awareness of hazards that they could be confronted with while riding their bicycle. Each child participant is also provided with a helmet and bicycle safety information to protect them while riding.
A Bike Rodeo schedule will be posted soon!
