TPO Committees

In order to receive a broad and diverse review of the transportation planning process, the TPO relies on several committees to provide input from various points of view.

Technical Advisory Committee
The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) is comprised of professional planners, engineers and school officials.  The TAC members review projects primarily from a technical standpoint based on their professional experience. The members of the TAC represent Marion County, the Cities of Belleview, Dunnellon, and Ocala, Ocala/Marion County Chamber of Commerce, the Marion County School Board, the Office of Greenways and Trails, and the Withlacoochee Regional Planning Council.  The TAC meets the second Tuesday of each month (excluding July and December) at 10 a.m. at the Ocala Electric Utilities Customer Service Center, in Conference Room #2.

Citizen's Advisory Committee
The Citizen's Advisory Committee (CAC) is comprised of citizens from all areas of Marion County and its municipalities.  The CAC's primary function is to advise the TPO on local transportation issues based upon the input of citizens in the area they represent.  The TPO strives to keep the composition of the CAC diverse in both terms of geographical location and professions represented.  The CAC meets the second Tuesday of each month (exclusing July and December) at 3 p.m. at the Ocala Electric Utilities Customer Service Center, in Conference Room #2.  If you are interested in joining the Citizens Advisory Committee, click here for an application.

Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board
The Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board (TDLCB) serves as the oversight board for the local Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC).  The role of the CTC is to ensure transportation services are coordinated as efficiently as possible.  The TDLCB is comprised of representatives from several state and local social service organizations.  Each of the agencies represented service clients who are eligible for transportation through the Florida Transportation Disadvantaged Program.  The TDLCB meets on the third Thursday every 3 months at 2 p.m. at the Ocala Electric Utilities Customer Service Center, in Conference Room #2.

Transit Executive Committee
The Transit Executive Committee (TEC) serves as the administrative policy board for SunTran, the local fixed-route transit system.  The TEC is comprised of one Marion County Commissioner, one Ocala City Councilman, a representative of the TDLCB, and two citizen appointees.  The committee works closely with the TPO staff to develop policy and continually review the performance and efficiency of SunTran.  Meetings are held as needed.
